Location
We are located in Janesville, Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County campus, connected to the ground floor of Williams Hall. Fund-raising from local industry and foundations provided for the entire cost (nearly $750,000) of our Engineering Center, complete with a 2,000 square foot lab, 24-seat classroom, 5 faculty offices and a program information office. Our facility and faculty are a permanent part of the campus.
Given our location, students must be mindful of polices established for the UW-Rock campus and of the services provided on it. Further, you may wish to note:
LAB & COMPUTER AVAILABILITY
Software current to engineering student needs is available around campus:
- Computer Lab in Library
- 2 Study Rooms in Library
- Allen Hall (AH) 03
- AH 04
- AH 10 – Distance Education classroom
- Engineering Center (E) 09 – Engineering Program Office
- E10 – Engineering Lab
Students have open access to our E10 lab nearly all day, Monday through Friday. We post a schedule of engineering class usage outside the entrance to E10. During these times, you must receive permission from the instructor to continue working in the lab. Further, when no Engineering faculty/staff will be nearby, the lab is closed. In other words, no access is allowed without lab coverage by an Engineering faculty member. Typically, someone is available from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
PARKING REGULATIONS
UW-Rock provides parking on its campus at no cost. Further, students with Engineering courses starting after 4 p.m. may qualify to park in the Southwest lot – which is next to the Engineering Center. This is a Faculty/Staff permit-only parking lot, so students must notify the Collaborative Program Director of their interest and then go to the Business Services office to pick up a permit. Elsewhere on campus, students must park only in designated parking stalls (no permit needed). The Rock County Sheriff’s Department regulates parking on campus, so faculty and staff are not able to waive or adjust parking tickets.
DISABILITY SERVICES
Students with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities are encouraged to obtain reasonable academic accommodations and/or auxiliary aids. A student with a disability must first seek direct assistance from UW-Rock County’s Campus Contact for Accessibility Services or UW-Platteville’s Services for Students with Disabilities Office – depending on the school from which you are taking coursework in a given term. Each office works with students, faculty and staff to ensure assessment of student’s abilities, not disabilities. Be sure to submit requests for learning aids at least 4-6 weeks in advance of the semester. Late requests may result in a delay of accommodations.
